Declutter Your Apartment: What’s OK to Throw Away

A lot of people are afraid to let go of things because they might need them at some point in the future. They hold on to old shoes and paper towels, even if their apartment is already jam-packed with junk. Just between you and me, all those items can be replaced should a need arise. It’s okay to throw away stuff you won’t need should a need arise.

Here’s a list of things you can throw away:

Clothes

Clothing is one of the most common items that people hold on to even when they don’t need them. When you’re decluttering your apartment, be ruthless and get rid of any clothes you haven’t worn in the past year. If you’re hesitant to let go of an item, ask yourself these questions:

  • Will I wear this item in the next year?
  • Do I look good in this item?
  • Is this item comfortable?

If the answer to any of those questions is no, then get rid of it!

Shoes

  • Can I access this paperwork online?

Artwork, wall hangings, mementos, photos, etc.

Some people like to have pictures or things from when they were younger to look at. They might call this art. Some people also like to have things on the wall or special things to remember good times. These things are nice to have, but they can take up a lot of space. If you don’t have the space in your apartment for these items, then it’s time to let them go!
