Houston is a large city with plenty to see and do, but if you’re only visiting for the day, then some spots should be on your list. Many other attractions can be found in and around Houston, making it an excellent choice for a one-day trip!

The Museum District

The Museum District has five museums within walking distance of each other and offers everything from art to natural history. The area is home to the Holocaust Memorial Museum, Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, Contemporary Crafts Museum, and the Station Museum of Contemporary Art. It’s a great family destination and a way to immerse yourself in Houston culture.

The Downtown Tunnels

You can walk almost two miles underneath Main Street at the downtown tunnels! They have been open since 1982. It’s free to go in, so stop by anytime. Houston Zoo

Rice University

Rice University is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. It’s also one of the most beautiful, with its Spanish-style architecture and lush green lawns. The campus is open to visitors and offers free tours.

The Galleria

If you’ve got a little extra cash to spend, the Galleria is the place to do it! It’s the largest mall in Texas and shows off all of Houston’s major stores. Other venues can be found in its underground tunnels, including restaurants, theaters, and even a bowling alley.

Hermann Park

Hermann Park is one of the largest urban parks in America and features winding trails, lush gardens, and even a zoo! The park is home to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, Miller Outdoor Theatre, and the Houston Zoo.
